Released in 1998 (!) for the Super Nintendo, Harvest Moon laid the foundation for an entire genre of farming and life-simulation games. Developed by Amccus and published by Natsume outside of Japan, the game offered something radically different from most titles of its era. It has no battles, no bosses and no time pressure to "win", but instead, players were invited to slow down for a bit and just experience the simple rhythms of rural life.
In Harvest Moon, you inherit a neglected farm and are given time to restore it to prosperity. Each day is spent planting crops, tending animals, upgrading tools and interacting with the townspeople. Seasons change, festivals come and go, and your choices determine how successful and fulfilling your farm life becomes! Thanks to its gentle pacing, charming artstyle and relaxing music, it became a cult classic and the starting point for a long-running franchise, as well as inspiration for a very popular modern game of this style: Stardew Valley.
Currently running InvictusBM LP
A complete tonal shift from all the LPs that came before! After several quite energetic games we focused on, I thought it's time to tone it down a little bit, and Harvest Moon is the perfect way to do it while keeping it retro! Our main character Invi and his dog Dave are on a journey to create the perfect farm life - starring Eve the wife, Gerard the chicken and more!
This LP followed after the completion of Super Mario Bros. 3. This LP was followed by ???.
