Released in 2001 for the Nintendo GameCube, Pikmin introduced a brand new type of gameplay experience: a real-time strategy puzzle adventure wrapped in a world of adorable plant creatures. Developed by Shigeru Miyamoto and his team at Nintendo EAD, the game blended time management, environmental exploration and combat in a way that was both relaxing and stressful - in the best way possible. It was one of the first titles to show off the GameCube's capabilities, and itl eft a lasting impression on fans of unique and emotional gameplay.
In Pikmin, you play as Captain Olimar, a space traveler who crash-lands on a mysterious, Earth-like planet after an asteroid collision. With only 30 in-game days to repair his ship before his life support runs out, Olimar must rely on the help of the Pikmin - small, color-coded plant creatures with distinct abilities - to retrieve his lost ship parts. Managing your Pikmin army wisely is key: you'll need to fight enemies, navigate terrain, solve puzzles, and keep your little helpers safe from danger.
